Point Reyes Camping Guide

Your Guide to Camping at Point Reyes

Everything you need to know for an unforgettable coastal camping adventure

Campgrounds

Point Reyes National Seashore offers five developed campgrounds, each with its own unique character:

🌊 Coast Campground

Perched on bluffs overlooking the Pacific, this campground offers stunning ocean views and dramatic sunsets. Exposed to wind, so bring a sturdy tent.

🌲 Sky Campground

Nestled in a eucalyptus grove on the ridge, Sky provides sheltered campsites with tall trees and a peaceful forest atmosphere.

🏞️ Glen Campground

Creekside camping in a sheltered valley. Great for families, with easy access to hiking trails and a more protected environment.

🦅 Wildcat Campground

Ridge-top sites with ocean views and access to beautiful Wildcat Beach. Popular for backpackers and longer stays.

Reservations: All campgrounds require advance reservations through Recreation.gov. Sites book up quickly, especially for summer weekends.

Gear Essentials

Point Reyes coastal weather is unpredictable—come prepared!

🧥 Warm Layers

Fleece or wool layers are essential. Coastal fog and wind can drop temperatures quickly, even in summer.

☔ Rain Gear

Waterproof jacket and pants. Weather can change rapidly—be ready for rain any time of year.

🔦 Headlamp

Essential for nighttime navigation. Campsites and trails are unlit, and fog can roll in fast.

⛺ Wind-Resistant Tent

Coastal winds can be strong. Bring a tent with good stakes and guylines.
